Dr. Andrew Huberman offers this nugget of wisdom breaking down how to more effectively make the changes we want in our brain and body. When you move forward through three-dimensional space, your eyes naturally move laterally side to side, and it positively affects your neurobiology.

He says these lateralized eye movements trigger a third option, “Not run and hide. Not freeze. But forward confrontation.”

In other words, moving forward in face of a threat— in healthy, adaptive ways, will suppress the activity of the amygdala and engage dopamine secretion.

Action creates rewards and
quiets fear in the brain.
